Community radio stations are often the lifeblood of a community, usually staffed by volunteers and presenting audio content that focuses on local activities, issues and people.
At CLIRA, we salute all community radio stations across Australia but wanted to acknowledge these 10 Amazing Community Radio Stations.

2MAX FM - NARRABRI
2MAX-FM 91.3 is a vibrant community radio station serving Narrabri and the wider north-west region of New South Wales. Established in the early 1990s and run by enthusiastic volunteers, the station has become known as “The Voice of the North-West,” broadcasting seven days a week from its modern studios on Barwan Street and atop Mount Dowe.

2WEB - BOURKE
2WEB broadcasts from Bourke, located in the heart of Far Western New South Wales. Our signal on 585am reaches across more than 130,000 square kilometres, covering a vast and remote region. While major population centres are few, our audience includes many smaller towns and communities scattered throughout the area.

4DDD - DALBY
4ddd is your local community radio station, proudly broadcasting from Dalby to the wider Western Downs region. We’re more than just a radio station – we’re the soundtrack to local life, connecting our community with music, news, stories, and voices that matter.

8CCC - ALICE Springs / tennant creek
8CCC Community Radio is a dynamic, volunteer-driven broadcaster serving Alice Springs, Tennant Creek, and surrounding regions in the Northern Territory on 102.1FM. Founded in 1981 as the Territory’s first FM licence-holder, 8CCC has grown from grassroots enthusiasm and now connects over 12,000 monthly listeners with local voices, news, and diverse content reflecting the rich cultures of Australia’s Centre.

94.7 THE PULSE - GEELONG
94.7 The Pulse is Geelong’s favourite community radio station, dedicated to providing a vibrant platform for diverse voices across the region. Broadcasting from central Geelong, 94.7 The Pulse delivers more than 70 programs in 18 languages, showcasing music, current affairs, multicultural content, and special interest shows that reflect the community’s unique character and needs.

CONNECT FM - BORDERTOWN / KEITH
Connect FM is your go-to station for storytelling and community vibes right in the heart of Tatiara and Limestone Coast. It all kicked off in the mid-80s thanks to Gordon Coad, who got inspired by an ABC Radio show about Community Radio. He dreamed of giving Bordertown its own voice to connect with the local areas.

GREAT SOUTHERN FM - ALBANY
Great Southern FM 100.9 is Albany’s premier community radio station, broadcasting across the Great Southern region of Western Australia since 1994. Operated as a non-profit and member-based organisation, Great Southern FM is powered by local volunteers who deliver diverse music programs, national news, and regular local updates from its studios in Lotteries House on North Road.

SOUTH COAST FM - SOUTH GIPPSLAND & BASS COAST

Look no further than South Coast FM, your local community radio station, proudly serving the vibrant regions of South Gippsland, Bass Coast & beyond. More than just a radio station; a dedicated team of passionate volunteers committed to informing and entertaining you with a local flavour.

star fm - st helens
Star FM Community Radio is located on the East Coast of Tasmania, with their broadcast studio in St Helens with three transmission towers to cover the entire coast on three frequencies. Our aim is to join our disparate rural populations into one community, sharing ideas and information via our Community Radio.

TEN FM - TENTERFIELD
Ten FM is a volunteer-run community radio station serving the Granite Belt, Northern Tablelands, and surrounding rural communities of New South Wales and Queensland. It has the fairly rare distinction of being a cross border station, broadcasting from studios in Tenterfield (NSW) and Stanthorpe (Queensland).
